she made a habit of inhaling his words just as they left his lips,

feeding on his unwavering pursuit.

his chaste acts of chivalry sparking fierce flush,

saccharine compliments causing the birds in her stomach to flap,

harder, harder.

laughing in delight at his childish humor,

no, rather she giggled.

her intestines writhed when he called her name,

twisting and turning in exhilarating agony.

he consumed her unknowingly,

but she let him.

and so there she was,

surviving off lovesick rations.

 

I don’t think I’ve ever been in love like her.
